OBAMA OR THE SYMBOL OF UNITED STATES

I wrote this article 2days before the Election day, on November 4th, 2008. A year after Obama's election, I realize that my opinion was not wrong...

American people will vote this November, the 4th 2008. They are not the only who are interested by this election, but the whole world, because American president is like the President of the World.

The particularity of this election is due to the candidacy of one African-American citizen. That was incredible! In the recent US history, the African-American had not the right to vote especially in the South. Many restaurants, schools, buses, parks were “for whites only”.

Today, how can we explain the candidacy of this African-American in this country where the Ku Klux Klan was born, and which has assassinated the author of I have a dream?
We can try to explain that by two factors: by the time but especially by the democratic candidate’s personality.

The charm of the United States (US) is particularly the cultural diversity of its people. Now, the charm of Obama is also his cultural diversity. He made his own presentation in his Philadelphia speech (March, the 18th 2008):

“I am the son of a black man from Kenya and a white woman from Kansas. I was raised with the help of a white grandfather who survived a Depression to serve in Patton's Army during World War II and a white grandmother who worked on a bomber assembly line at Fort Leavenworth while he was overseas.
I've gone to some of the best schools in America and lived in one of the world's poorest nations. I am married to a black American who carries within her the blood of slaves and slave-owners - an inheritance we pass on to our two precious daughters.

"I have brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, uncles and cousins, of every race and every hue, scattered across three continents, and for as long as I live, I will never forget that in no other country on Earth is my story even possible”.
Form these three continents; the democratic candidate is the symbol of the US in this early 21st century. Fortunately US citizens are aware of that. That is why they have preferred him to the former first lady, Hillary Clinton.

A victory of Obama would participate in the international plan to pacify the conflict in Middle East, and contribute to build a new type of relationship between, on the one hand, US and the Arabic World; and, on the other hand, US and Africa. In internal plan, with Obama President, each American could identify to him. Finally, it would give more guarantee and hope to the minority who could realize their American dream.

In my view, vote for Obama is the only way that America could use to apologize to its minorities for all the evils that it brought to them. Now the question is: will the American citizens accept the change? Wait and see.
